Brief Description
The Kokatat GoreTex Pro Meridian is the gold standard by which all other white water river kayaking dry suits are judged. The Gore-Tex Pro Meridian dry suit is a one-piece dry suit with a front entry zipper and over-skirt. The Meridian dry suit comes in Men's and Women's styles, and we have separate page for each. Note: we stock XL Meridian suits with custom sized dry-socks so you can have a choice of Medium or Large socks on an XL size suit. These custom suits are the same price as the standard suits and you can order them here by selecting the sock size from the menu.
Detailed Description
The defining features of all versions of the Kokatat Meridian dry suits (whether GoreTex or Hydrus) are the over-skirt and covered front entry zipper. The overskirt sandwiches your kayak's spray-skirt like the double tunnel on a dry-top to keep your kayak's cockpit drier while rolling, surfing and paddling in waves. The front entry zipper that runs diagonally across the chest of this suit makes it easy to get in and out of (as opposed to suits that use a rear-entry zipper across the shoulders which require a buddy to open and close). A flap covers the front entry zipper, "punch-through" neoprene gasket protectors cover the latex neck and wrist gaskets, and there's a self-draining zippered chest pocket with a key lanyard loop inside. Meridian suits also include Gore-Tex® Dry Socks which are the best of all solutions for the bottom of the leg (as opposed to latex drysocks or ankle gaskets). The punch-through neck and wrist covers act as a double seal while eliminating any scratchy/sticky Velcro® around your neck and wrists.
Kokatat has four sizes of dry-socks, but they use the Medium size sock (for shoe size 9 - 11) on all but their Small and XXL size suits. We find a lot of men who wear an XL sized suit need the Large sock (for shoe size 11.5 to 15). So on our best selling dry suits like the GoreTex Pro Meridian we stock suits with custom sized socks so you can have a choice of Medium or Large dry-socks on an XL size suit. Note: Although the Kokatat Meridian dry suit was primarily designed for river kayaking, some sea kayakers also choose it (or the Odyssey drysuit) for the over skirt feature.
